Vision - Mission - Strategy

On the basis of the foregoing analysis a new university, University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) is launched with a new vision to meet the challenge of “redefining” scientific and technology education.  The vision is, therefore, to establish a university in Bangladesh that shall be a “world class nucleating centre of achievement”. It strives to remain at the cutting edge of building useful knowledge and skills so as to be a pace–setting institutions for the development of similar institutions in the country.  It is a science and technological knowledge based centre and at the same time provides marketable skills for the younger generations who may be gainfully employed both nationally and internationally.

The Mission of the new university is to achieve the redefined goals of higher education and sustainable economic growth of the country through a tripartite relationship between itself, industries and reputed universities and institutions at home and abroad.

The Goal is to develop a  skilled, innovative pool of youth who can exploit emerging opportunities and invent new technologies in selected fields of development, and  at the same time remain employable at home and abroad.

To fulfill the mission and the goal, the UITS pursues the following strategies:

i) equip students with practical technological skills and knowledge to be at the cutting edge of technology to compete in the global market;

ii) promote the practice of lifelong learning;

iii) build up an infrastructure for the promotion of advanced and new sciences and technology at an affordable cost;

iv) develop and improve teacher quality through different kinds of training;

v) network with institutions and organizations at national and international levels for exchange of knowledge and information;

vi) undertake practical research and development (R&D) at community level  alone, or in collaboration with relevant national and international institutions;

vii) develop and foster professionalism and leadership among students;

viii) liase closely with industry to provide increased job opportunities for the graduates;

ix) inculcate an understanding and appreciation of the value of best practices and to encourage the capability of the students to adopt them in the world of work;

x) provide multipoint entry, and scope for acquisition of multiple qualifications within a verticle scheme of learning and perhaps in the same time frame;

xi) provide awareness of the culture of the land;

xii) provide opportunities where students can integrate with community to identify their economic needs and attend to such needs by adopting viable technologies. 

The UITS ensures that its credentials are acceptable both nationally and internationally.  It  provides opportunities to students to “learn by doing”, invent and patent new need based technologies to meet the requirements of the present world. It promotes research and industrial application of new technologies. This is both innovative and challenging.
